The Common Core of European Private Law: The Project and Its Books

I have been asked to write this brief essay not as a book review in the traditional sense, but as a commentary on a book project and some of the books that it has generated (others are in preparation). What makes this treatment possible is the high degree of uniformity in the approach taken by the project's books. Each follows the same basic format and uses the same basic methodology. For most purposes here I will refer to the shared aims and methods of the project and to the characteristics and patterns that are common to the books rather than to specific books.
