This armchair panel examines the opportunities brought through technology and AI, what many are terming “AI for society” or “AI for the good” or betterment of communities. The panel also explores technology’s costs, limitations, challenges, and ethical concerns at national and global levels, in industry and civil society. On one hand, AI affords access to treatments and technologies where geography and other limitations hamper access to care and engagement. On the other hand, AI can intensify biases, amplify discriminatory outcomes, and undermine fairness and ethics. How do we balance these concerns? What are the contemporary and future challenges associated with AI? Who benefits from AI and who is harmed?
